While I’m big on offering you lots of healthy food on Tasting Page as well as inspiration to live your best life, there’s still more.

You want to watch everything that goes into your body and that includes your skin care products.

You already know how your diet is only part of the health equation because all of the kale in the world won’t make up for the toxic thoughts you continually feed yourself.

Likewise, if you’re eating “clean,” but still using chemical-filled skin care products, you may also run into some health issues.

So today I’m going to share with you my favorite non-toxic, natural skin care lines. The skin, after all, is the largest organ in your body so it’ll soak in whatever you put on it.

I recently read that the European Union has banned over 1,110 personal product ingredients over concerns that they may cause cancer. Know what the number of banned products is here in the US? 10.

Wanna know why there’s such a big discrepancy in our numbers?

Our beloved FDA doesn’t think that they need to get involved with any approval on cosmetic products and ingredients, except for color additives.

Guess they got a thing for color, but not so much the rest of the ingredients that go into a product.

Sadly many commercial skin care products contain heavy metals and toxins that can disrupt your health, leading to hormonal issues, allergies, and even cancer.

Luckily there’s good news. There are now loads of toxin-free organic skin care lines for every budget.

Ingredients to Avoid in Skin Care Products

Before I get into my favorite brands, let’s first look at the ingredients to avoid in natural skin care products.

I like to say if you can’t eat it, why put it on your body to get absorbed into your bloodstream. There are different alcohols like Butyl and ethanol, not to mention petroleum and coal tar that I definitely don’t want in my system.

The big toxins that many personal care companies are working to remove from natural skin care products (and many already have) are parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), and phthalates.

Reputable skin care brands will feature labeling on their packaging that says GMO-free, SLS-free, paraben-free. Definitely look for these descriptors and look for a small list of pronounceable, natural ingredients on the label.

I always like to check my products at the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep website. They list what ingredients are suspect and which are ok and then give the product an overall health rating.

They’ve also recently launched an official EWG VERIFIED™ mark that helps you pick out toxin-free skin care products. You can read more about what that means and how this label can assist in buying healthy beauty products.

Top of the Line Natural Organic Skin Care Products

Annmarie

My favorite natural organic skin care product line is Annmarie. The company was started by a young healthy living couple looking for a better alternative to all of the chemically laden personal body products on the market.

They use organic, wildcrafted ingredients that include plant and herbal extracts. I love the smell of their products. It’s so much better than those horrible factory-made air freshener-like scents found in other brands.

Annmarie’s products are non-GMO, cruelty-free, and made in the USA. They come in dark, glass bottles and each has an expiration date on the bottom.

You know why there’s an expiration date? Because natural skin care products should be fresh. They shouldn’t contain a bunch of chemicals and preservatives to extend the shelf life to that of a Twinkie.

I like their anti-aging line because I'm never going to turn down help in that department. You can get your own product line recommendation by taking their skin care quiz.

After the quiz, you can get a sample kit of your relevant cleanser and facial oil for just $10 so you can try the products before purchasing a full size. Not only that, but they also give you a $10 off coupon on your first purchase, so you pretty much get the samples for free.

I’ve also started using their new Sweet Sunrise Shampoo and Conditioner and am loving these additions. In these fab new products, you can find organic aloe, nettles, and essential oils, and none of the ingredients you want to avoid like sulfates, parabens, and triclosan.

My two runner-up favorite natural skin care lines are from ISUN and Eminence Organics. They both do the chemical-free wild ingredients thing and are high-end, organic product lines.

ISUN

ISUN was created by a woman with a clinical nutrition background and love for botanical chemistry. ISUN has hundreds of products ranging from cleansers to exfoliants, serums, moisturizers, lotions, aromatherapy, and sun care. You need to buy directly from ISUN on their website or go to a salon that sells their products.

Eminence Organics

Eminence Organics is not a new kid on the toxin-free skin care block. They’ve been making their products since 1958. They started in Hungary, and their products are now found around the world. You can also buy some of their products on Amazon here.

Moderately Priced Natural Organic Skin Care Lines

Beautycounter

My favorite middle of the road priced organic skin care product line is Beautycounter. You won't find Beautycounter in any store or on Amazon since they have an online-only shop here.

They have a "never list" of more than 1,500 chemicals that will never make it into their products. You can find the big ones here, and yeah, you never want any of these ingredients in your products either.

Suffice it to say, they're a bigger company trying to do the right thing by serving up quality beauty products. I've been digging their newer Countermatch adaptive moisturizer that somehow knows exactly what your face wants and needs. Pretty cool, huh?

Lower Priced Natural Organic Skin Care Lines

Acure Organics

If some of the products above are a little too steep in price for you, there are some decent inexpensive natural product lines as well. Acure Organics is one of my go-to's for more simple products like my face cleanser.

I like that Acure is family-owned and they focus on sustainability and also give back to the community. Their products are plant-based and are also vegan, sulfate free, paraben free, petrolatum free, silicone free, and cruelty-free.

And while their products aren’t free, they are reasonably priced. My cleanser is usually around $9 on Amazon, and it lasts several months. Acure also has a line of body and hair care products as well.

Avalon Organics

I will sometimes use Avalon Organics Vitamin C line like their cleanser (under $10 on Amazon) and renewal cream. Vitamin C is good to help fight environmental stress and damage, so it's always good to have a little of that in your system. They’re GMO-free and don’t use parabens, phthalates, and synthetic colors and fragrances.

Alba

Alba Bontanical also makes a more natural and affordable skin care line. While their products aren’t vegan, they are 100% vegetarian with many botanical ingredients. I also like that Alba gives to female empowerment programs around the world. I use their Very Emollient body lotion.

Luckily many skin care companies are now realizing the importance of using natural, organic ingredients so there are some good options if you know what to look for and what to avoid.

If you need help with your sunscreen and naturally preventing skin cancer, check out my post here to protect yourself in the sun.

And don’t forget reducing sugar in your diet and consuming collagen can both help with the appearance of your skin.

There are many other good organic skin care product lines, but I only have one face, and when I get into a good groove with a brand I like, I stick with them.

So let me know what I missed and if you have a favorite natural organic skin care line that I haven’t mentioned.
