Amsterdam Tulip Festival

If flowers are your thing, or you just enjoy looking at the pretty colors in a crayon box, then the Amsterdam Tulip Festival is for you.  The pictures say it all.  And when you feel like you're about to go color blind, you can enjoy the beautiful city of canals, art filled shops and the best apple pie I may have ever tasted.

Andalucia

The bright yellows and reds of Seville are permanently etched in my brain.  The intricate tile work of the Alcazar, the energetic undercurrent of the bull fighting ring and the sexy sounds of flamenco all make this a memorable locale.

Neighbors Cordoba and Granada delight with the breath taking architecture of the Mezquita, Alhambra and their own Alcazar.

Morocco

Morocco fed all of my sense.  Marakesh was stimuli on steroids with their fast paced open markets chock full of colors, smells, products and people.

Essaouira was a welcome change with its quiet seaside town where camels transport you along the water to a different time and place.

The High Atlas mountains in Imlil provided yet another visually stunning vantage point to enjoy this amazing place.

Then there was the amazing food that we learned to cook and were able to consumer all over the country.  You can read about this and more on Page in Paris.

Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre was one of my favorite locations I visited while living in Paris.  Cinque Terre is a stunning collection of 5 villages perfectly perched along a rugged coastline of the Italian Riviera.  Cars are not permitted or able to drive directly between the towns, so transport is either by foot, boat or train, and I found doing a combination of all 3 a great way to explore the area.  There's nothing like starting the day with a vigorous hike through the mountains with jaw dropping views to be rewarded with breakfast in a brightly colored corner cafe in the next town over.  With the combination of a stunning landscape set in a remote location filled with great restaurants and quaint shops, this is a spot I continue to dream about and hope to return to someday.
